Eco-Wedding at Château de Poudenas

Your Big Day, Your Values!
Eco-Wedding at Château de Poudenas – Your Big Day, Your Values!
🌿 Eco-Wedding at Château de Poudenas: A Genuine and Responsible Celebration
This wedding story goes back a little while, but after the redesign of my website, many blog posts disappeared. I’m republishing it here because the values of sharing and environmental respect are especially close to my heart.
I truly believe that love can be celebrated while honoring the planet. There’s no need to fly in vendors from across the globe! And if you’re into smoke bombs, why not go for it? 😉

What is an Eco-Love Wedding?
An Eco-Friendly Wedding Report in a Charming Venue
This eco-wedding was made possible thanks to a beautiful synergy between local vendors, all sharing the same ethical values and a deep commitment to sustainability.
From the organic flowers to the locally sourced catering, every detail was carefully chosen to reflect a shared respect for the environment and for people.
Choosing a local and ethical collaboration not only reduces the carbon footprint, but also supports a vibrant network of artisans and eco-conscious professionals.
It’s the perfect recipe for a celebration that is both meaningful and responsible.
Shot in 2019, this eco-wedding styled shoot took place during a time when gatherings were still possible just before the pandemic turned everything upside down.
Still, this memory holds a special charm: nature in full bloom, more insects, more birdsongs, and a burst of wild orchids. 🌸 It was a true joy to see and hear! In other words, an enchanted moment in the heart of the Gers, set in a historic venue with a truly authentic soul.

A Local, Ethical, and Committed Collaboration
Back in 2019, the magnificent Château de Poudenas was still lacking visibility. To change that, the owners reached out to Faustine, a friend and colleague specializing in luxury wedding venue marketing, with whom I regularly collaborate to promote the exceptional estates of the de Gascogne collection.
When she told me about the project, I immediately wanted to highlight the concept of an eco-wedding—a concept still relatively unknown at the time. To me, it was clear that one could create an elegant, joyful, and planet-friendly event without compromising on style.
Alongside Faustine and Julie, a former wedding planner, we gathered a team of talented local vendors, all chosen for their values and craftsmanship. From an eco-conscious dress designer, a sustainable event stylist, and eco-responsible furniture rental, to an organic caterer, local artisans, and a green florist—each one contributed to making this project a true success.
You’ll find all the best addresses at the end of this article!
In short, this styled shoot proves that a refined, ethical, and inspiring wedding is not only possible—it’s also deeply human, collaborative, professional, and full of meaning.

🌿 A Lasting, Human, and Positive Impact
This wedding shoot had a real impact: the images shared helped boost the visibility of Château de Poudenas, as well as the local, engaged vendors who took part in this beautiful adventure.
On my side, I invested a lot of time, energy, and passion into this project. And to this day, I’m still proud to have contributed—even though, truth be told, most venues near me (and society in general) don’t always play along.
We live in a consumer-driven world, where the number of Instagram likes sometimes seems more important than human or environmental values. Yet, I truly believe that a wedding centered on people and respect for all living things creates a deeper, more lasting impact than just another trendy image.
A sustainable wedding story is built with values, intention, passion, and a spirit of sharing.

💌 What if your wedding truly reflected who you are?
Your Wedding Is So Much More Than Just a Celebration
It’s a promise, a shared dream, a suspended moment in time — where love becomes the guiding thread behind every choice.
The venue you choose — whether it’s the Château de Poudenas or a place that feels truly yours — becomes the perfect setting to hold your memories and celebrate your union in line with your values.
At every step, you have the opportunity to make conscious choices, working with ethical vendors who share your vision: a wedding that is authentic, sustainable, and truly yours.
Together, you create a unique experience, one that is harmonious, respectful of nature and people, and filled with meaning.
✨ If this heartfelt journey speaks to you, I would be honored to accompany you and tell this precious story through images — with sensitivity, natural beauty, and kindness.
A gentle reminder: I’m not here to judge. I too sometimes travel (mindfully), often for personal or purpose-driven projects, or to document weddings in places like Dordogne or Bergerac, where venues closer to home don’t always align with my values.
What truly matters is choosing what feels meaningful to you.
Finding the vendors, venues, and a way to celebrate that genuinely reflects who you are.

Our Experience: A Purpose-Driven Styled Shoot
In this spirit, back in 2019, during the early days of the pandemic, Faustine and Julie, and I imagined an eco-conscious wedding at the Château de Poudenas, guided by ethical and local values.
Together with more than 20 passionate vendors, all committed to a creative and sustainable approach, we brought to life a wedding shoot that truly reflects human-centered and eco-friendly values.

Why Choose Local Vendors?
Optimize Your Budget
By selecting local vendors, you avoid high travel fees and maximize your budget for other aspects of your wedding.
Gain Peace of Mind
Working with nearby vendors offers greater flexibility and responsiveness. You’ll be able to easily arrange meetings and adjust details according to your needs, all without added stress.
Support the Local Economy
By hiring local artisans, producers, and artists, you directly contribute to the vitality of your region, supporting talented professionals close to home.
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Choosing local vendors is also an eco-friendly decision. Less travel means a reduction in the carbon footprint of your event, contributing to a more sustainable wedding.

Vendors Who Truly Care
Do you dream of a wedding that celebrates not only your love but also your values? Are you looking to embrace a sustainable lifestyle while minimizing your impact on the planet? We’ve carefully selected vendors who share this same environmental awareness.
🌿 Every detail matters. From flowers lovingly grown in local gardens to hand-painted artistic creations, Made in France products, and materials that are recycled or repurposed for a second life… These passionate professionals focus on well-being, kindness, and sustainability.
🌱 Whether it’s for your decor, catering, or stationery, you have the option to choose partners who prioritize short supply chains, natural materials, and eco-friendly practices. An eco-conscious wedding promises a magical day that reflects your values while protecting our beautiful planet.
So, do you like the idea?

First Appointment at the Local Barber
The day before the big day, I hit the road to join the groom at Sandrine’s Barber Shop in the enchanting setting of Lavardens. Located just 30 minutes from the Château and our home, this place offered an intimate and warm atmosphere, perfect for this pre-wedding moment.

Unique Signage
At Sandrine’s, it’s not just an address — it’s a true experience! With a charming vintage décor, vinyl records spinning, a cozy cup of coffee to warm the heart, and, most importantly… laughter at every visit! 💖 I love Sandrine’s universe, a place where every detail tells a story. The hand-painted signs by Geno, add a poetic and unique touch to this already magical space. A craft that almost disappeared: hand-painted signage!

Château de Poudenas
A Unique Venue in the Heart of the Valleys
The Château de Poudenas is a true gem, nestled in the heart of the Gers valleys. Overlooking a picturesque fortified village, this castle stands out for its stunning courtyard, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the region, and its panoramic terrace, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
In addition to these remarkable features, the château is set within a 10-hectare park, which also houses its own church, providing endless possibilities for organizing unique and memorable events. Whether for a wedding, a private ceremony, or a seminar, the Château de Poudenas is the perfect place to combine prestige, nature, and authenticity.

Preparation at the Château
Preparation at the Château – A Moment for Two
During the decoration setup, I wanted to create a special moment. A small cocooning session for the couple, in complete intimacy, in this peaceful setting. A precious moment that is often overlooked on the big day… yet it feels so good.
I wanted to break the routine a little, offering them a break just for themselves, to reconnect, talk, and breathe together before the buzz begins. Before the looks, the intense emotions, and the sometimes frantic pace of the wedding day. And no, the groom didn’t see the bride’s dress before the ceremony!
Because, on your wedding day, we often forget to truly reconnect. To say the important things, to hold hands in silence, to fully appreciate what we’re experiencing.
I cherish that moment just as much as the big “I do’s” because it tells what really matters.

The Bride
The Bride – A Bride Enhanced, Between Boldness and Delicacy
The bride was beautified with a smoky makeup created by the very rock-inspired Shéron Thaillez (who has since relocated), and her hair was styled in a loose bun by the vibrant Valérie Chouillet (who is no longer practicing). Two talented women, full of creativity, with whom I had the pleasure of collaborating on other equally inspiring projects.
She wore a delicate pearl necklace designed by Leslie Bohn de la Bijouterie Azara, an elegant piece that enhanced her posture with a poetic touch.
Her wedding dress, both light and flowing, was a unique creation by l’Agenaise Elsa Gary. With its spectacular V-back, it was the perfect dress to reveal a subtle back curve or a discreetly placed tattoo.
And to break the rules with refinement, she had chosen to wear flaming red shoes, a touch of character and boldness that contrasted with elegance in this soft yet assertive portrait.

The Groom
The Groom – The Groom’s Preparation in Style
The groom began his preparation in an elegant room at the Château, bathed in natural light. Clean-shaven by Sandrine, the talented barber from Lavardens, he sported a well-groomed and characterful look.
In terms of style, he was dressed with a touch of casual chic thanks to a selection of original pieces from :
Le Duplex fashion boutique in Nérac. Two outfits were chosen:
– the first, dark, in navy blue, for an elegant and classic appearance;
– the second, light, in beige, paired with suspenders, for a more relaxed yet still refined style.

The First Look, The Discovery
The First Look, The Discovery – ✨ A Moment Suspended, Just for You
The wedding day can sometimes feel like a real race against the clock… there’s little time for couple photos, and precious few moments alone together, even though it’s your day!
To shake things up a bit and create a wedding that truly reflects you, I often suggest what’s called the “first look“: an intimate moment where the couple sees each other for the first time before the ceremony, away from prying eyes. It’s not the traditional choice, sure — but then again, we all know you’re no longer living at your parents’ house 😄 So why not do it your way?
This moment rarely lasts more than ten minutes, but it’s enough to bring out powerful, sincere emotions. It’s a precious pause, a deep connection just before the whirlwind takes over.

When it’s possible and the couple desires it, I always suggest this special moment. Not only does it allow you to reconnect with each other, but it also provides a beautiful variety of images—emotional, spontaneous, and filled with genuine tenderness.

The Ceremony
The Ceremony – A Ceremony at the Top of the Hills
In this enchanting setting, everything seems ready to host a ceremony out of time. Imagine exchanging your vows, surrounded by your loved ones, overlooking a fortified village, in the heart of the Gascon valleys. The place, already magical, becomes even more alive thanks to the local floral compositions by Amélie from Magic Nature: pampas grass, seasonal flowers, and a thoughtfully designed decor to reduce the environmental impact. 🌾🌸
It’s 4 p.m. in Gascony. The ceremony takes place at the foot of the Château de Poudenas’ ramparts, between two cypress trees, with a view of the church and the golden countryside. We linger on the details: the refined furniture from Amandine from Cocotte & Coquettes, perfectly integrated into the setting, seems as though it has always belonged here. Emmanuelle chairs, vintage sofas, cozy poufs, and carefully selected cushions… a true cocoon of comfort.
Next to them, the raw wooden furniture from Cyril from Wood Stock Réception completes the ensemble: tables, benches, buffets—everything is there to host with elegance and simplicity. A beautiful harmony is created between rustic authenticity and vintage softness, under the benevolent shade of the centenary cedars. 🌳

The Trilingual Ceremony and
the Beer Ritual
The Trilingual Ceremony and the Beer Ritual
The trilingual ceremony of this multicultural wedding, delicately orchestrated by the touching Céline Larigaldie, is about to begin.
Forty-five minutes of tenderness and emotion, to be savored like a performance.
One is gently carried between two or three languages, swayed by the words and silences, the rituals chosen with care.
A touch of originality that fits them perfectly: a beer ceremony to seal their union! 🍻
One shared goal: a ceremony that truly represents them, full of meaning. 💞

Confetti: Eco-friendly and Magical!
Throwing biodegradable confetti: a symbolic, sustainable, and affordable gesture!
Biodegradable and Local Confetti: We rise and part to the rhythm of tossing small leaves, replacing the traditional rice grains (banned due to global hunger concerns). The newlyweds then step away for a well-deserved moment of calm…
For your humanist or secular ceremony, this wooded, natural setting is simply magical. And just behind, you can glimpse the chapel, which also offers the perfect backdrop for your religious ceremony!

Cocktail in the Courtyard
This courtyard at Château de Poudenas is simply perfect for hosting your cocktail, reception, or even an outdoor dinner! With its majestic setting, you’ll be able to fully enjoy the moment, surrounded by the history and charm of this exceptional venue.
The only small downside? Maybe for those choosing high heels… But don’t worry, there are equally stylish alternatives, such as block heels, offering more comfort and balance while keeping you chic! After all, a wedding is also an opportunity to think about your comfort, although, let’s admit, high heels are undeniably stylish! 😉👠
So, you’ll be comfortable dancing all night long!

Delicious and Beautiful Products in Abundance
To satisfy the food lovers and epicureans, Pascal Piques has crafted a buffet worthy of the occasion, highlighting local products in all their glory. A true feast for the eyes and taste buds, where each dish is carefully selected and presented with special attention. The wonderful team orchestrated this feast perfectly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere around this delicious moment. A real journey of flavors, all while supporting the local terroir and producers! 🧀🥖🍇

The Handmade Photobooth
A vintage-style photobooth, designed with a conscious effort to minimize plastic, offers a charming touch to your celebration. The dark backdrop, adorned with delicate golden embellishments, invites the newlyweds and their loved ones to share genuine laughter and unforgettable moments, even with their furry friend! The studio flashes and a selection of fun props are always ready to illuminate the night. This hand-painted backdrop, crafted by the talented lettering artist Genowefa Pawlak from Atelier K, is a true homage to craftsmanship and timeless beauty, ensuring precious, plastic-free memories. 📸✨

Creating the Ambiance
A Magical World at Every Turn ✨
This wedding, with the feel of a private mini festival, is a true enchantment, where every corner holds a wonder. Like an enchanting interlude, each space reveals a surprise, a carefully thought-out detail, a subtle intention. Everywhere you look, there’s a flower-adorned table, a soft lighting setup, or a sweet nod to the couple… Nothing is left to chance. 🌿🎶
An atmosphere that mirrors their style, blending bohemian elegance, a festive spirit, and gentle poetry, where every element comes together to create an unforgettable setting, full of charm and magic. ✨

The Evening
Time flies, but the festivities are just beginning… As the night gently embraces the castle, it sets the stage for a new vibe more vibrant, more electric. Laughter becomes wilder, the lights dim… and suddenly, a surprise lights up the faces of the guests.
✨ Enter Jérémy Canto, the magician of lights, who transforms the moment into a true sensory and visual spectacle. With his words, images, and poetic light play, he shifts the evening into a suspended, almost surreal moment. An unforgettable show, far from the traditional fireworks… yet even more touching.

✨ As soon as he steps onto the scene, the artist captures everyone’s attention. Cold artifices, blazing sparks, and dancing flames mark the beginning of an unforgettable night. An intense, visual, and sensory spectacle that sets the tone for a timeless evening.
But shh… let’s not reveal too much. What unfolded under the stars is a story only you can tell. 😉🌌

My commitment to an ethical wedding
ove can be celebrated in countless ways — and it’s entirely possible to do so in alignment with your values and desires.
For your wedding, I will be your eyes and your heart. As a photographer and artist, I capture each moment of your story with poetry, focusing on what truly matters to you… and so much more.
Since that defining shoot in 2019 (yes, it’s been a while!), I hadn’t had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Château de Poudenas. It’s only this year, in 2025, that they added me to their list of recommended photographers — and I am deeply grateful. Because every gesture, every choice, every collaboration matters. Neither I, nor this beautiful planet, are eternal… So why not start making meaningful choices for us, and for future generations?
